You should start worrying about rodent problems when you notice signs of their presence like droppings, gnaw marks on food packaging or walls, nesting materials, holes chewed through walls or floors, or even just a single sighting of a rodent; essentially, any evidence of rodents entering your home is a cause for concern and should prompt action to address the issue.

Key points to watch out for:

  • Droppings: Finding rodent droppings in areas where food is stored, around appliances, or in cupboards.

  • Gnaw marks: Chewed holes in food packaging, baseboards, or other surfaces.

  • Nests: Visible piles of shredded paper, fabric, or other materials used for nesting.

  • Entry points: Holes or gaps in walls, floors, or around pipes that could allow rodents to enter.

  • Sounds: Scuttling noises at night, especially in walls or ceilings.

When to take immediate action:

  • Multiple sightings: If you see more than one rodent in your home.

  • Signs of damage: Notice significant damage to your property from chewing.

  • Concerns about health risks: If you suspect rodents are contaminating your food or transmitting diseases.
